"I ain't fraid of no Ghosts."
RIGHT! You got the gear, you got the fancy do-dads...you got the suit.....You think your a Ghostbuster?
Not yet rookie.
You play as "Rookie" A new Ghostbuster who is basically...a Test Dummy. Trying out the new weapons and the like on the field...and also the escape goat when the bill comes in...Anyway, the Storyline picks up after the movies, and pits you against a few new ghosts, and some old friends... The White Lady, The Marshmallow Man, Slimer....Sweet Memories
GAMEPLAY: 8.5
Handles much like your classic 3rd person shooter with a twist. You have a friend or so ready to help you if you fall, but you better help them when they drop down as well. Its a twist all right... Think Gears of War with out the blood and gore...As far as shooting goes...it handles very well! The ghosts like to give you grief at every point and time, and make your life a living hell...and it rocks. Little drag seeing a different ghost doing the same thing as another ghost but still, You think you got it all figured out and then they change there ways on you...its rather nice. Let alone the fact that the game does have several "Doom" moments, when something startles the crap out of you, and other times, it has moments meant to try to scare you...but is just so corny, you just end up laughing…Just like the Movies.....Hrm... sometimes...a little TO like the movies...then again the White Lady scared the CRAP out of me as a kid...along with the Subway scene in Ghostbusters II with all the heads...
OH! And how silly of me...
Don't cross the streams....
GRAPHICS: 10
Hands down, pure and simple, its the best. The Beam is a spot on look from the movies, the pack itself takes on effects and looks depending on the class of beam you use, and you take some battle damage. Taking on the Marshmallow man? expect to see you start to get covered in that white sticky goo. Get hit by a ghost a few times? Your going to look a little green and nasty, Get to close to Dr.Venkman while he's blasting something and your going to start getting a little darker as it burns your suit. The whole crew looks amazing, the ghost actually give you a reason to jump a little on some occasions, some being quite scary and gross looking. I love it. This game SHINES in the Graphics....watching The Marshmallow man look like a toasted treat was also....so great...words just fail to explain.
STORY: 8.5
While I want to give the game a 10 because it still holds that very familiar feel of the Old Ghostbusters, being corny and witty in just the right moments, the story line takes you though lots of weird moments and places, showing you some familiar faces, and overall just letting you relive a lot of Old Ghostbusters moments...while its nice...I could have used a few extra spices.
OVERALL: 9
While this game is great, even as I can remember myself as that little kid, sitting down with a bowl of cereal on Saturday mornings to watch The Real Ghostbusters and let myself feel it as real as the nose on my face... with that...backpack and the trap in close reach...god...I was such a nerd…Where was I..OH! Even as I remember those days, I cant bring myself to get this game a ten, for I would be betraying that little kid...The game was great, sound and music are perfect but...it was like watching the movies again really, excuses to go back to the library and .. well....it seems like its nothing really new. Gives you that “Its all been done before “ feeling. However, I can say this is, by far, one of the BEST Ghostbusters games... Lets not forget the huge disappointment most of us had over the NES carts.... Both one and two...However the Sega Cart answered many of our calls for a GOOD Ghostbusters game...until the day this was reviled. Try it... You will like it. You can not call yourself a Ghostbusters fan...till you go out...rent this...and at least play it. In any rate, Its time for me to go...Ghost to trap.... Money to collect. Remember, We're Ready ....to Believe You.
